I replaced my old analog De'Longhi heater with this new one. I was impressed with all the improvements. The control settings are digital, which I prefer, especially being able set the desired temperature (instead of some arbitrary analog power setting). It also has a button to control the overall power setting, which I assume reduces power consumption when you don't need a lot of heat. (I live in So. Calif. so this is often the case.) I especially like that the sound of the power relay clicking on and off is pretty quiet, because I use this unit in my bedroom at night. Finally, this heater has a "shell" around the heater element that protects against accidentally touching the hot surface. I haven't used the timer capability, but apparently the timer settings are lost when the power is removed. This could be a concern for some people, so be aware. Also, I tried the eco mode, but it didn't get room warm enough, so I probably won't use that feature much. Overall, I'm very happy with this unit. I may buy another unit for my living room. My 2-bedroom apartment has gas heaters, but the price of natural gas has gone up so much, it may be more economical to use the electric heaters, because I only need to heat the room I'm in. I'll see what my heating bill is next winter. ... show more

    • Despite Doing the Initial "Burn-Off" The Heater Still has an Odor When Used on Hi

I did the recommended burn-off outside on HI for well over an hour, but this unit still smells IF I use it on HI. The solution is simply to not use it on HI. Medium works fine for my uses. And man, I do use it a LOT. This heater heats my small two-room music studio quite nicely. I've gone through two panel heaters (the last one was a DeLonghi) over the past ten years, but this oil-filled DeLonghi is the best one yet, and it's the safest! I set it for 60 degrees and leave it set there during the winter (near the coast of NC.) Any additional heat I get from one of those fast heating vertical and oscillating hearers that quickly brings the rooms up to 70 or so before being turned off. I highly recommend this heater for its ability to QUIETLY keep a set temperature on Medium or Low and its SAFETY. It works on HI, but be ready to air-out the room. ... show more

I bought this space heater since I live out on the West Coast and our gas bills have doubled and tripled this winter, which has been extra cold, and I'm looking for ways to not freeze while keeping my house thermostat set at 65 or completely off (I usually have it set in the 70s). These are my observations after having it for a week: The heater is absolutely quiet. I only heard a few noises from it the first night, so I haven't heard any of the popping noises other people have described. I put this in my bedroom, which is about 12'x15', with high ceilings and no door to the master bath, so there's a lot of space to heat up. The first 2 nights, I turned it on to the highest setting when I got home from work and shut my bedroom door. It took *some* of the chill out of the room, but I still had to bundle up in sweats and socks to be warm. The room wasn't really comfortable until the middle of the night, after the heater had been going at the highest setting for hours, and with the door to the bedroom closed. After that, I left it on all day with the door closed, and that has kept my bedroom warm and comfortable. Warm & comfortable to me means I can wear sleep shorts and a long sleeved pajama top to bed instead of sweats and socks, and get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night without having to sprint to the bathroom and back before I freeze into a block of ice. That said, there's no way this radiator has ever heated my room anywhere close to being the temp on the display (82). If my room really was 82 degrees, I'd be sweating and feeling like I was being cooked alive. So, it does keep my room at a comfortable temperature when I keep it on all the time and keep the door closed, even when outside temperatures are in the 30s and 40s and my house thermostat is turned off. I think a conventional space heater does a better job, especially since they get warm right away, but those aren't as safe as oil-filled radiator space heaters. ... show more
