  • With some tinkering, its a good ultrawide monitor
Style: 35" Curved 100Hz
Updated Review: After playing with the monitor for a few days, I decided to return it for a full refund. The monitor continuously lost sync with the GPU and had to be shut off/on again to re-establish sync. Initial Review: This is a new product from Asus. Although it has a VA Panel, so far it looks just as good as my old IPS monitor. The color quality is great with a lot of decent presets built in. It takes up a huge footprint, approximately 9 inches deep, 33 inches wide. I have mine sitting on a small glass monitor shelf from Monoprice. Pros: - Decent color and built in presets. - Image sharpening built in (VividPixel) - Response time (~1ms with Trace Free turned all the way up) - Adaptive Sync works well with nVidia (I use a 1070) - All cables necessary are included with the product. - Hardware is simple to set up out of the box Cons: - To use Adaptive Sync, you have to enable it through the monitor On Screen Menu (OSM), then you have to go into the video card control panel software and enable it there. Would be nice if it just worked straight out of the box - My motherboard (Asus TUF X570 Wifi) did not function properly with the DisplayPort. A couple of settings in the UEFI Boot menu had to be adjusted in order for it to boot properly. To do this, I had to connect the monitor with the provided HDMI cable to my computer and adjust the BIOS/UEFI. Under the Advanced Mode -> Boot -v CSM (Compatibility Support Module) had to be changed to 'Enabled'. A new subset of rule toggles will display under that and one of them will need to be changed as well. Boot from PCI-E PCI Expansion Devices had to be changed to 'UEFI Only'. Saved my settings and shut down. I then switched back to the DisplayPort cable in order to utilize Adaptive Sync. - None of the items above were listed anywhere in the provided documentation or on Asus' website. I had to find the solutions through online forums and it took hours to find. - Even with Trace Free set to 100, there is still some minor motion artifacts when moving around the screen. For the most part they are only noticeable when you are looking for them. I loaded up RDR2 and a couple of other games and they look amazing. It took a while to get used to the curved display. ... show more

  • A Budget Gamer’s Dream!
Style: 27" Curved 165Hz Height Adjustable
After shopping around for several monitors I came across this particular ASUS monitor. I have to say I was skeptical at first purchasing this monitor but I’m glad I did. As I opened the box I got three monitor connection cables (DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort) and one power cord with unit. Next they give you a cable for your headphones to connect into the back of the monitor (If needed). Lastly the monitor and base are included with easy setup along with manual and copy of the warranty. Behind the monitor is also a cable management port which unfortunately I found to be too small with the cover on so I had to keep it off (Could not keep the cover closed while cables went through). The movements and adjustments of the monitor are simple to learn and easy to use. Now for the picture quality I’m running an NVidia RTX 2060 GPU so right away this monitor connected and started up as usual with a pristine picture. Even though this monitor’s original capability is AMD Free-Sync, my G-Sync quickly identified this monitor and adjusted my picture accordingly for desktop and game usage. The highest hertz this monitor can handle is 165hz and the lowest I could get out it was 60hz. The highest resolution I could get out of this monitor was 1920x1080p and the lowest being 800x600 so not the best for 2K or 4K users but still the picture quality has smooth and vibrant colors in its other resolutions. Another thing I liked about this monitor is the brightness, color, and shadow adjustments that you can make while you use your desktop or while in-game. This is a curved monitor so viewing may be different then your flat screens but the view is smooth and sets your eyes centered to the screen more. The stereo sound this monitor is included with is not bad but lacks bass so may be an issue for some, you can always adjust the sound though. The monitor’s side buttons are easy to navigate and use, there is also a control stick behind the monitor to help you navigate faster through your option menus. Even the power button is one touch to turn-on and off, easy/simple. My conclusion for this ASUS monitor is definitely a great buy for budget gamers or someone looking for a decently priced curved monitor. I’ll definitely give ASUS a look when purchasing other products in the future. ... show more
