Well, this was darned expensive. And the base is separate, which initially made no sense to me. But...then I figured it out. The umbrella rocks. VERY heavy, but with 2 people and strong backs, very easy to assemble. Functionality is awesome, it tilts, it rotates around. Modest breeze, not even a shimmy in the whole assembly. Quality seems top notch. You pick your own base assembly, we did the standard plastic base which when filled with water, seems more than heavy enough to compensate for the lean and weight of the umbrella. But you can also dig a really big whole, dump in 700# of concrete, and then never worry about this sucker again. I subtracted a half star for value, this whole set up is about $1000, which by far is the most I've ever spent on an umbrella. But if this can hold up--totally worth it. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. ... show more

Read all the reviews between Purple Lead and other brands and decided to pull the trigger on this one. Got to say, pretty good quality for its price (although not that cheap). Been using it for the past couple weeks and it's been holding up just fine. Not as sturdy as I thought, but we are using it on a rooftop cabana so the wind maybe stronger. Assembly is really ~10 minutes and not alot of parts you have to deal with. Only thing is that you HAVE TO BUY THE BASE SEPARATELY (for prospetive buyers), since it doesn't come with any. The base we got is the water/sand 200LB base, which is pretty good but quite expensive though (maybe you can look for alternatives). ... show more

Very pleased with our first Purple Leaf umbrella. It was exactly the product we were looking for to add shade to our pool steps. The umbrella is of high quality. We did have an issue with one of the handles, but it was quickly resolved when Purple Leaf Customer Service (Tears) immediately sent a replacement handle. Originally This was to be delivered on Friday the 23rd. After sitting in the warehouse and not being shipped for a few days It was scheduled for after the memorial day weekend. Purple leaf contacted me and offered me a 10% discount and kept following up and somehow the umbrella was actually delivered Saturday afternoon so we at least got to use it for half of the memorial day weekend installing it on Sunday. Their customer service was very prompt and helpful. We love the umbrella as it appears well built, is very sturdy, easy to install and works great. It also swivels very easily. I have looked at several options to shade our "above ground, partially in ground" pool. This umbrella has allowed us to have partial shade over at least 1/3 of the pool. I love this umbrella and it’s easy to use. When it’s a little windy more then recommended, I use bungee cords to keep steady so it doesn’t put stress on the umbrella.
