I am revising my original rating from three to four. My original reservations have not changed - filling the base with sand is an impossible task and the mfr should have created much larger openings so that the process could take just minutes rather than hours. I pointed this out to the company and they said they would pass my suggestion onto their research department. They also suggested that for those living in cold places that you could fill the base with 3/4 water and 1/4 anti-freeze. I suppose that would solve the problem. Second, they suggest that assembly requires two people - I would suggest perhaps two very strong people or maybe even three people. This thing is a monster and very heavy to lift and position onto the stem into the base. Having said that, I am happy with the finished product (picture attached) and have received quite a few compliments. Just be aware of this product's difficulties. I am writing this review to warn potential buyers that putting this together is not a piece of cake. Otherwise, the umbrella seems to be plenty sturdy and attractive. Read the instructions for mounting carefully. It does not come with a base as shown in my picture. One may drill and mount it to the patio, use the optional weighted mounts, or other mounting method, I elected to keep the mounting braces from my previous umbrella (also 11ft). The holes did not align, so I centered it on the base and drilled new holes. In my case, this was far easier than dealing with purchasing weights or digging holes and mounting the optional support post in concrete. My fix took about 30 minutes and cost nothing. The umbrella assembled easily, but take note that there are a lot of things strapped together under the fabric. These need to be removed before the umbrella can be raised. The crank handles do not snap into the fittings. This was to keep children from fooling with it. Sorry, but it would be acceptable to have the children under control and the handles snap into place. Children should be instructed not touch some things and the handles should be conveniently where they need to be. This is my third umbrella, as such, and my first Purple Leaf. I love the umbrella and never had trouble with children messing with the previous umbrellas. It operates easily and is definitely, worth the money. ... show more

Purple Leaf off-set umbrella is perfect, exceptional quality, and was perfect for my needs. My only complaint is that Amazon used a carrier for the delivery that has a long history of providing terrible service. In reading the reviews, the carrier is consistently late and the tracking info is not accurate on their website. The item arrived 3 weeks late and the carrier showed it “out for delivery” for five days. I must say that Amazon customer service did an excellent job tracking it down and finally got the carrier to deliver my item after it sat in the carrier’s warehouse for 3 weeks. When the box finally arrived, it looked like it had fallen off the truck and was torn in several places. Luckily, the item was not damaged inside. I highly recommend the product but implore Amazon to use a different delivery service. ... show more

Purchased this item and was given the option to pick a delivery date. Picked a Saturday two weeks later between 9 to 12. Shipper Ceva never showed and no one ever answers their phones. They then rescheduled without consulting me, so I had no choice other than to take another day off and again Ceva failed to deliver in their stated window. That said it did finally show up 4 hours late. No call, no contact, nothing until they showed up late after I had written them off again. Basically it was a guess when you will get it experience. The umbrella is great overall and worth the price I paid. Does a great job covering our chase lounges around our pool patio; Just wish the whole delivery experience was better. We bought the original 12' Purple Leaf umbrella nearly one year ago. When wine came we backed up the umbrella in it cover and when spring came we went to pu it up and found that a family of mice made it there home. They bonded holes in it everywhere. I didn't know what to do. I emailed Purple Leaf customer support and with in 24 hours Lisa got back to me and said I could purchase a replacement umbrella material. It arrived fairly quick from CA to CT across the USA and I took off the old and pout on the new one in less than 15 minutes. Wella! they have a video that I watched which showed the steps and it was even easier than I anticipated. Thank you Lisa and Thank you Purple Leaf! The umbrellas are amazing. We had a couple of hiccups but the company worked with us to get things taken care of. We have a good breeze going through our backyard and these have been tested. The other cantilever umbrellas have only been usable when it wasn’t windy. These ones have a commercial grade quality without the big price tag. Ours is bolted into the cement. A great feature. They also have in ground bolt setups on Amazon to do the same on grass or in a garden. ... show more
