  • Worth a Try
Color: Green
I'll admit, I bought this litter box for my cat (but mostly myself) when I was having a pity-party for some bad news I got. I wanted a cuter litter box than then the crappy $15 one I got that was aesthetically unappealing and the little flap door was broken after just a few months of use. Also, my cat likes to kick her litter around and so my bathroom floor was always a minefield. I'd been initially deterred by the price but finally just said 'screw it' and caved. My cat (7 year old, 9.5lbs) did NOT like this at first. She left her blessings on the litter trapper mat I had for her former litter box. BUT there's a way to get your cat used to it! I started by having the litter tray all the way outside of the box, which she used happily and messily. Then I moved the litter tray into the box but left the front door open - she used it again. Then I closed the door and she seemed to get it. This was over the course of ~3 days. I recently got a kitten (now 11 weeks old), and once he saw my other cat go in and out, he got it legitimately RIGHT away. However, cats are picky little jerks so I can fully understand how one may not like this box. To address some other reviewers concerns: - I have no problems with litter spillage from under the door. I use Okocat litter, their standard pine version. - Once or twice when my kitten was first using this box, I had a little urine spillage from the front door but that was only once or twice before he figured it out. If the litter pan is pushed ALL the way in, the front door will really be the only possible leakage spot. If your cat likes to pee against the walls of the litter box, though, I can see how this box might not be the best fit. - As another reviewer mentioned, it does need to be on a level floor otherwise it squeaks; once I got it set up on even tiles, it was very sturdy. Also make sure to screw in the legs all the way, and to match the long ones and short ones. - The door itself on mine (moss green color) is quite strong and the magnet hold is strong - I don't think my cat would be able to open the door unless she was panicking and thrashing about - Between this and the box, odor is very well controlled. I don't use a litter pan liner, and the pee-clumped litter (again, Okocat pine litter) doesn't stick to the pan at all. - I still get a bit of litter tracking but it's definitely less than other litter boxes. I'm switching to the low-tracking version of Okocat once my current box of litter is done. All told, I love this box and will probably be buying another one my kitten has outsized his current baby tray. It's aesthetic, it controls odor and litter tracking. The litter scoop it comes with stores VERY conveniently inside the front door, though it's not great for larger pine litters. But cats are cats, and this is admittedly an expensive trial-and-error. I'd recommend anyone to at least give this a try though! If it doesn't work out for you, I'd be willing to buy it off you. ... show more

  • Great idea, but needs some improvements. Not as good for larger cats.
Color: Green
First I love the idea of this, it very cute. But, I have a couple of large cats, and I really had to leave it open for them to use it. Things that would improve it. 1. much deeper litter box, the older a cat is, the bigger the urine balls, my cat got some in the box and some down the backside in the bottom of the case. A deeper box would avoid this, or you can only have the litter 1.5 inches deep. Plus when scooping the litter, it goes over the side since it is so shallow, and you sometimes have to help tip it into the scoop. Deeper box would alleviate this. 2. Taller it would allow a large cat to stand in the box while going easier. My cats are in the 15 lb range, and one is Oriental Short Hair, so he has long legs. 3. a handle on the front of the box, so you can pull it out easier. Again, to avoid touching the inside of the box. I wash my hands after scooping regardless, but still icky to have to touch used litter. 4. A removable front. It would make it so much easier to help the cats adapt to the box. It was very ungainly and too a lot of room in the bathroom when it was open. Good Features: I like the grate for entering and leaving and the open spot, so the cats don't get the "outhouse" smell. The design is thoughtful, cute, and with a few improvements, it would be awesome. Final thought: I won't be returning it, but I will try and sell it on Craigslist to recoup some of the cost. it is not a bad product and I really liked many aspects of it, especially reducing the litter tracking. And yes the dimensions are listed, but it can be hard to visualize the inside area. I think it would work wonderfully for smaller cats, 10 lbs and under. Don't hesitate if you think your cat would use it. ... show more

  • Easy to assemble, looks good, decently sized, but not perfect
Color: Classic White
My cat is what you would call an.... enthusiastic digger. I tried a few different open litter top litter boxes, including the Arm and hammer box that has the high rimmed sides. None of them worked for my needs. I was also looking for an enclosed box to help stop her from simply jumping out, which would spread litter all around. So the good and the bad for me after 3 months: 1) This litter box looks really good. It's a simple design, but it is cute and will blend fairly well with your décor. 2) It is extremely easy to set up. Just screw on the legs and you are done. 3) The box is large enough for a small to medium sized cat to comfortably use. You can also remove the stepping platform by the opening if your cat needs more space. 4) My cat personally loves it. She got acclimated to it in no time. 5) If using crystal type litter, you will have a BAD time. This litter box has seams that will cause crystal type or any other fine litter to sift out from under the litter tray. The manufacturers do make this clear as they recommend tofu type litter. The included litter scoop has large holes and is clearly designed for larger litter. 6) If you have a cat that likes to urinate on the sides of the box, which is likely in male cats, you will have a BAD time. For the same reason as above, you may experience leakage into the bottom of the litter box (under the litter tray) or through the bottom seam of the door. 7) Prepare for your cat to climb it. I guess that's to be expected of any enclosed litter box. This would be 5 stars for me if the design better facilitated use of any type of litter. Keep this in mind before you purchase. I am stubborn and still use crystal litter because that's what my cat and I are both used to. I just put a shoe tray under the front leg to catch any litter that spills. Once a week I vacuum under the tray to catch any runaway litter and just pour the litter from the shoe tray back into the litter box. ... show more
