  • Pretty impressive for a budget power lift recliner
Color: Black
This chair certainly is not top of the line, but it’s great for the price – which went down minutes after I ordered. Grrrr. I purchased two, but ordering them was a real hassle. Bear with me or you can skip down to my full review on the recliner below. There were six left when I put two chairs in my cart. While I continued shopping, I saw the quantity available go down to three so I completed the purchase using a $600 gift card. While in my cart it said I would receive the chairs in 1 to 1 ½ weeks. That changed to 4 ½ to 6 ½ weeks after I placed the order. I guess I wasn’t fast enough. I monitored the listing and 15 minutes later the price went down $10. Twenty bucks is twenty bucks. ($10 a chair.) I canceled my order and ordered a second time after making sure the money had been returned to my gift card. Unfortunately, my Amazon Store card was charged and not the gift card. (The gift card was charged automatically for the first purchase.) I canceled this second order and ordered a third time ensuring the gift card was used. Delivery was still up to 6 ½ weeks so what have I got to lose? I continued monitoring for price changes. The price didn’t change after my third purchase, but the shipping time did. It went from up to 6 ½ weeks to next week. The shipping time on my order remained 6 ½ weeks so I canceled the third order. (I did wait a bit to see if the shipping time on my order would change.) I ensure the money has returned to the gift card. I order a forth time ensuring the gift card is used and ensuring the delivery date is still next week. I placed the order on Dec 2 with delivery expected by Dec 11. Great! So after all of that hassle of ordering four times I saved twenty bucks and get the chair next week. This is what you do when you are a retired homebody. Then the chair sold out again. Still $289, but back to one to two months delivery. I check my order and it’s still next week delivery. I win! So, I ordered on a Monday December 2 and received my chairs the next Monday December 9. All that has nothing to do with my opinion of the chair though. So… ACTUAL RECLINER REVIEW: I read all the bad reviews. I read the good ones to. I checked Fakespot and they gave the reviews quality a C. I was on the fence until inventory started disappearing and I jumped on it figuring the chairs could be returned if damaged or faulty. I love this chair. (Had to get that out of the way.) The size is perfect for me. I literally can’t stand those over stuffed recliners you sink into. I do already have a high dollar reclining, heating, kneading massage chair so I really didn’t purchase this chair for the heat and vibrating massage options it offers. Those were just a bonus. I’m one of those older people with bad knees, a heart condition and yadda yadda yadda. I needed to replace two worn out broken recliners and I wanted something that would rise up on it’s own and dump me out. I do have a little trouble climbing out of recliners right now although I don’t really need a dump truck, but I’m afraid I soon will. I tend to brace my hands on my knees for support every time I get up out of any chair. This chairs lift function certainly makes it easier to get up out of the chair and I wouldn’t trade that option for anything. A nice feature is being able to raise the footrest without reclining the back of the chair. (It reclines only slightly while the footrest is raising.) My old recliners couldn’t do that. I actually enjoy the lift function of this chair. It almost feels like I’m on some amusement park ride. That aside, this is the ONLY chair I sit it that I DON’T have to put my hands on my knees and push in order to get up out of. It rises up, tilts forward and I step out. I couldn’t be happier. The heat turned out to be more impressive than I had expected. I expected minor localized heat, but it ended up heating my entire back. It’s not so hot as to be uncomfortable, but you definitely know it’s there. The vibrating massage is no comparison to the kneading function of my other chair, but as the listing details, it has multiple modes in multiple areas and includes a timing function. I have to admit that it is soothing and relaxing. Like the heating function, it exceeded my expectations. I expected some minor vibration that you could barely feel, but the vibration is strong. The different modes really are different modes and not just minor differences. As you can see from the pictures, it has four outside pockets. The one on the right you will use to store the controllers. There’s also one on the left and smaller ones on the front of each arm. Perfect for holding the thirty-seven remote controls you have laying around or stashing the snacks your wife doesn’t want you to have. Everything is powered and automatic. Lifting and helping you out of the chair of course, as well as the reclining function. Those functions are on one controller with all of the massage functions on the second controller. No more yanking on stubborn levers, jerking your body back and forth or using leg pressure to close the footrest. No slamming the chair back or struggling forward. The controllers are intuitive and easy to use. For some reason, the cord on the vibrate/heat function controller is two feet shorter than the recline/lift controller. This results in having plenty of slack for the recline/lift controller while the vibrate/heat controller can be just a little less easy to keep within reach. It’s puzzling why they aren’t the same length as they both plug into the same place at the bottom back of the chair. I feel it would have been nice if the controls had been integrated into one of the armrests replacing one of the cup holders. I’m not a two-fisted drinker and don’t need two cup holders. There are apparently many different styles of chairs that use these same controllers and the left and right arms of this chair are identical so I guess it’s just a mass produced cost effective deal. It's likely the same reason there are two controllers and all the controls aren't combined into a single controller. I did notice that out of all the pictures on this listing only one showed the controllers hanging off of the chair. All other pictures showed no sign of the controllers from any angle. I’ll stop short of calling it deceptive as we all know the controllers are there. The one picture that does show the controllers shows the cords coming from the sitting area of the chair and dangling over the arm. Take note of this. After lamenting how the cord on one controller is so much shorter than the other, I snaked the cables through the chair between the back and the seat to mimic this picture and it works. You don’t feel or even notice the cords when sitting and both controllers are easily within reach no matter your reclined position. Too bad this step wasn’t mentioned in the minimal instructions. There are no kids in my house to mess with my chairs and I will take care of them so I expect them to last a long time despite not being La-Z-Boy quality. I did the minor assembly by myself. For some reason, I thought attaching the arms would be part of the assembly, but no. The simple assembly consist of slipping the back of the chair onto the body and connecting the various electrical components. “No tools required” is a valid statement. During assembly I lubed what working parts that were reachable. I intend relubing moving parts and checking electrical and mechanical connections at least twice a year. It’s when things work loose or start to grind that damage occurs. I’ll do all I can to avoid that. The chair is just PU leather, but I’ll treat that occasionally to keep it from drying out and cracking. It may be fake leather, but it can still dry out, crack and peel like real leather. I’ve got the time to do all this because, remember, I’m retired. I’ve got the time if you’ve got the beer. Actually, I have the beer too. If nothing else convinces you to purchase this chair, how about the Homall warranty mentioned in the listing? “We are glad to exchange your recliner or refund your money if you don't like the chair your(sic) purchase(sic), No extra fee required.” Yeah! That’s exchange or refund and it won’t cost you a dime. Talk about no risk. There is a slight problem though. Just try to find any information about Homall. Impossible. I scoured the internet while waiting for delivery. Nothing. I purchased the chair from Amazon so contacting a third party seller is not an option. Not much information came with the chair other than the minimal one page installation instructions and a folded card stating, “Our goal is your 100% satisfaction” and it provided an email address contact. No warranty registration card. Since no warranty information was provided in the package, I emailed the contact information requesting it. I was leery that this would accomplish anything as I could find no trace of furniservice (the contact at gmail) on the internet. No .com website either. I’ll wait a few days for a response. If I don't get a response or if the response is unsatisfactory then I'll contact Amazon to request warranty information. I’ll update my review later with the results. Warranty update: I did get a response to my inquiry, but it was basically, "We'll stand behind our product. Call us if you have any issues." So, I contacted Amazon to request warranty information. It's been weeks and unbelievably Amazon has never responded to me. So basically, you get no written warranty. All you have is that little yellow card that came with the chair that provides a phone number to call if you have issues. My only advice then is to hang on to that little yellow card and hope you never have to call the number. But if you do then hope they honor their word. I guess good luck to you and me and hopes that the chair never malfunctions. End of update I think the hassle I went through to order was worth it and I’d do it again. To repeat my opening statement, “it’s certainly not top of the line, but it’s great for the price.” If I had to I don't think I would have an issue paying more. If you purchased this chair during Cyber Monday for $299 or $289 be grateful as the price keeps fluctuating quite a bit. It went to $370 and as of this writing is $341. You can still find the same chair elsewhere for $299 under the a different brand name. One suggestion. Be sure to remove your drink from the cup holder before you tilt the chair forward to stand up. ;-) Update: My email to furniservice was successful as they did respond, but they referred me back to Amazon so I did something I’ve never done before and requested the warranty information directly from Amazon. There is a link for this on the listing. I’ll update again once I hear back from Amazon. ... show more

  • Better than expected
Color: Black
These chairs are available under a variety of company names and the Homall was the least expensive. I would have preferred a different color, as available from others, but black's fine considering the value. Was quoted a 6 week delivery when ordered in late May and it arrived in 2 weeks. The packaging was beaten up a lot but the chair was fine, and as it shipped in the configuration of base and back separate, that allowed me to move it into my living room from my garage by myself (I'm 72). It went together easily. I was impressed with the quality of the faux leather (very supple and soft) and all controls worked. I won't say it's the same quality of a Laz-e-boy, but it's fine. Only markdowns? I'm just under 6' and it's rather short on the leg section as many others have noted. Love the ejection seat, and hopefully won't need it for another year or two. The 'massage' features work fine and while it's too hot in South Carolina to check out the heat function, I'll put it to use in January. Very pleased with the chair. It's not replacing my bigger 'napping' recliner, but it's a pleasure to look at across the room. ... show more

  • Great for seniors! DON'T BUY THE WARRANTY!
Color: Black
We got this chair for my mother-in-law who is wheel chair bound. She was getting bed sores from sitting the wheelchair so much. She has a regular lift recliner but she was scared of it because it's kind of wobbly and she's afraid of falling out if it. This chair is super sturdy. It doesn't wobble at all. She loves the heat and the message helps keeps things circulating. And of course the lift helps us get her up. I highly recommend this chair for seniors. Update***** the chair was great. We did purchase the extended accidental warranty.... DON'T WASTE your money with the Uniters warranty. It's a scam there are so many loop holes that your claim will not be covered. Don't buy the warranty! ... show more

  • Not what I expected.
Color: Black
I purchased this chair because my husband broke his leg and knee cap. We thought it would be better than sitting on the couch. Cons: The chair takes to long to go up or down and he can't hold his leg out long enough for it to come up. The material very easily rips. Pros: The massage and heat features are great. The chair itself it comfortable. On a side note, I have tried to purchase a recliner cover to help save the material. I have purchased 3 different ones and none of them fit. I don't know what it is about this chair but all of them are too big or too small even though I double checked the measurement, they won't fit. Very frustrating! ... show more

  • Great chair for the money!
Color: Black
We bought this for my husband to sleep in after open heart surgery and it worked great. The controls all work great. The massage really surprised me, but the heat seems a little under whelming. I kept telling my husband "Don't buy it for the heat/massage" because at this price I didn't expect it to be great. As I said, the massage surprised me. Definitely way better than I would expect from this price range. The fabric is nice and the lift works well (although it's ridiculously slow). ... show more

  • Excellent value.
Color: Black
We got two for our living room. We have a friend that needed the assist with rising and for the price, we thought it would be beneficial all around. The heat is low, but the massage has various settings. One came with scuffs in the material, but we could see that these were from shipping not manufacture and the scuffs buffed out fine. For the price, you couldn't get a better value. ... show more

  • Uncomfortable chair broke after 8 months.
Color: Black
My wife complained immediately that the chair felt like there was a medal bar or pipe in the seat and that it was difficult to get comfortable without reclining. The arm broke off of the chair after only 8 months. Now, we can see that it is only stapled together. I wish we had never purchased this chair. ... show more
