  • Awesome
Style: 8,500-Watt Dual Fuel
This generator is awesome. Took me about 1 1/2 hrs. to assemble, very simple. Tried the propane side first and it started right up, I didn't want to fill with gas and have to drain but I'm confident there won't be a problem during our next power outage. Because of my age it was getting very difficult to pull the rope starter on my old generator, problem solved with the electric start. Nice! It was a little noisier than I expected but way quieter than my old generator. I am very pleased with my purchase. ... show more

  • Might should have gotten the 10lw
Style: 8,500-Watt Dual Fuel
To start with, we've been using the XP5500EH for three years as backup. It is a fantastic machine and has never failed except the night it got to -1F. I had it on propane as I have always ran it, if it had been on gasoline it probably would have cranked. Anyhow, we have added to the electric load so I purchase the XP8500EH. I ran it a few times after it first came in a couple of weeks ago, it cranked right up and ran fairly well off of the 20 lb propane bottle. To me it does not run as smooth as the 5500. Today I hooked it up to the transfer switch to the house and put a load on it. In comparison, I do not think it works as hard as the 5500 has worked. The 5500 carried such a load that I was surprised when the main breaker was thrown so soon on the 8500 as I was loading it up, little by little. The engine was not under a great strain, I think that the main breaker in the unit is just not as strong as it should be. Maybe after it breaks in a little more it will handle a load better hopefully. ... show more

  • POOR TRUCKING COMPANY DELEVERY
Style: 8,500-Watt Dual Fuel
Overall I happy with the Generator quality. The one thing I'm not happy with is the trucking Co. that delivered it. They were suppose to set IT on my DRY covered patio out of sight. THEY DID NOT THEY JUST DROPED OFF IN THE DRIVEWAY AT THE BOTTOM OF 2 STEPS IN PLANE SIGHT OF THE ROADWAY. GOOD THING THE PORCH PIRATES WERENT AROUND. PLUS I HAD TO HIRE A LOCAL LABORER TO HELP ME MOVE TO IT UP THE STEP'S ... show more

Just as described. Easy startup. Is heavy but wheels provide excellent stability and traction.

  • It got me through the first power outage
Style: 8,500-Watt Dual Fuel
Comes with battery and wheels. Elextric start is critical as you throatle the chock to find the right air fuel mix. It's a real pain to do that while pulling a cord. Much easier to electronicly spin the engine 5 seconds. Duel guel is critical because gassoline goes bat in the lines. Switch to propane for start. Propane has less energy so it will take a while for rpms to go up. Propane will only produce 7500 watts. 5 gallons (20lb) propane will only run 2.5 hrs . 5 gallons gasoline will run 7 hrs and is cheaper. You need both. If you use gassone pump out and run it dry so it don't go bad in the lines. ... show more

  • Dual Fuel, the way too go
Style: 8,500-Watt Dual Fuel
Duel fuel is the way to go. Not having to store gasoline is great. I purchased two 40 pound propane tanks. Propane can be stored indefinitely. This gives me the option of using both fuels if needed.

  • Powerful unit, working well so far...
Style: 8,500-Watt Dual Fuel
Great, powerful generator. Gasoline option worked well, as expected. I had a few hiccups with getting the propane to work. Called support and they worked with me. I finally figured out the startup procedure for running the propane. So far, I'm quite happy with it. Worth the purchase and reassurance it gives me when there's a power outage. ... show more
