I so happy with this purchase. I wanted a file cabinet to hide all our bills and documents and get rid of a horribly ugly 4 drawer cabinet. Gorgeous beachy distress looking finish. This peice is heavy particle board with a thick nice laminated finish. I'm not a huge fan of laminated furniture, but this is a very good qualility cabinet. If you are extremely patient and very mechanical it will take 4 hours to assemble. You can do it with on person, but at times it is helpful to have husband (in my case) or someone to assist in repositioning the peice to start a new part of the assembly. All hardware was there. I will say pay attention to the directions when installing the interior anti-tipping lock assembly. All said this is a great price for this nice cabinet. LOVE IT! Assembly time was about six hoursby myself, including interpreting the instructions and putting some parts on wrong and correcting. It's very well engineered and made. The parts fit together when you do it right. Some tips: I put up a portable table for subassembly of major parts, then put it on the floor on a blanket to put the main pieces together. This saved working on my 72 year old knees the whole time. A rubber mallet makes it easier to gently tap the pieces together, otherwise a Phillips screwdriver is the only tool needed. Once assembled, I found that the drawers are not interchangeable. If they don't fit, switch them. Then they wouldn't close all the way; I had the stops upside down. ... show more

I absolutely love this file cabinet. Not only is it beautiful, its sturdy and has 2 locking drawers. I looked for over a month online for a file cabinet that wouldn't be hideous in my townhome but also wouldn't waste space. I need 2 locking drawers for my work. Nothing came close to the price and style of this one! I also put it together myself (I am 30 y/o female) and I did get frustrated a few times but I did it. I have always kinda liked Sauder products, sold by the majors including Amazon, Walmart, Wayfair etc. This two-drawer lateral file cabinet arrived and it was moderately difficult and time consuming to put together. The assembly had four drawer slides, two for each drawer. Part of the assembly requires separating each drawer slide to mount one half to the cabinet and the other to the drawer. When the assembly is almost complete, you can then insert the drawer into the cabinet and say VIOLA!!! You're done !!! There is a problem that each slide has a minor black plastic part that could cost no more than a few pennies that is easily breakable. This plastic part acts as a detent, that is: when pulling the drawer out, it will fall onto the floor if the detent is broken. When separating the slides as instructed, I probably broke one of these plastic detents; although it could have been broken before leaving the factory. Amazon has a button to check if you need replacement parts for your delivered product. This takes you directly to a phone number at Sauder Customer Support. Somebody answered the phone, fully understood the problem and shipped me two complete slide assemblies because disassembly of one drawer from the cabinet might lead to replacement of both slides on this drawer. She said they would arrive in 4 to 6 business days. They arrived in three days. I will complete the re-assembly this weekend. Now this is what I call close customer "hassle-free" support. Looks good and is very decent quality once put together. Not too high end stuff, but hey I knew that from the price I paid. Had an issue with one of the sliders and When I inserted the drawer all the ball bearings fell out. Had to go to sauder website and place an order for the part which they shipped at no cost and very quickly (actually shipped two sets and I only needed one). Overall it now works well as a file holder and locks work Well too. My only complaint is that one of the draws sits slightly "off". Likely due to my construction (which yes it took a LONG time) not being absolutely perfect. Kind of annoying. I did spend an inordinate amount of time putting it together so I thought it would be Spot in. So my only advice is to just be extra special retentive about making sure each and every step of the way you line everything up exactly. ... show more
