I bought this in an attempt to extend the life of my mattress. It worked, but maybe too well. Not only am I sleeping better and no longer wake with back pain, but two of my rotten kids, (the other two have Tempur-Pedic mattresses) are constantly trying to kick me out of my own bed! Last week, while my husband and I were away, my 19-year-old slept in my bed and had the nerve to tell me that he spent his week watching movies and eating a Costco-sized container of M&M's in my bed! It was very difficult to get the cover on the topper and the topper still looks lumpy. After paying $250 for a topper, I did not expect to have to wrestle to get the cover on. While struggling to get the cover on, the topper got dirty, which is really not appreciated. The Tempur-Pedic website says the cooling cover comes separately from the topper because it would wrinkle otherwise. I would rather have some wrinkles! ... show more

These are super soft and fairly cool all things considered. We bought a medium-firm Tempur-Pedic hybrid to replace our original Tempur. It never loosened up like our old so we bought this. It is very soft and spongy the issue we have is that it slides every direction just a .5 inch every night, bought a mattress pad grabber and also attached sheet suspenders which helps but it still moves some. ... show more

I love how cool this topper is. It is sooo much better than my old foam topper. However, I ordered a full topper for my full mattress and it is not the same size! It is about 3 inches short in length and width. I just line it up on the side and corner I sleep on and do my best to ignore the other sides. Unfortunately because of those gaps between the topper and my frame, the topper moves a lot and I need to reposition it every other day. It keeps me cooler than my previous topped though, so I guess the good outweighs the annoying. ... show more

Last year I bought a cheap pillow top spring mattress. as I am a heavy guy it didn’t last long. I spent a couple months looking at YouTube reviews and going to different stores - a couple were open during the pandemic lockdown here. Very few of the mattress I looked at seemed to be good for a side sleeper like me at over 300 lbs. The Purple Hybrid 4 seemed like the mattress that I could sink into the most, but I wasn’t sure about how well it would handle my weight long term; plus it’s real expensive. The temperpedic seemed like the nicest of the memory foam mattresses but were also expensive and really didn’t give me that soft sink in feeling I was looking for as a side sleeper. Ultimately I bought first a latex topper from Avacado which did make my bed softer but wasn’t plush enough. So next I bought this Temperpedic topper (soft plush 3 inch foam model) and put it on top of my latex topper. I now love how I sink in. Since I have shoulder pain the memory form topper is position about 15 inches from the top of the bed so my arm and shoulder sleep on the Latex topper while the bulk of my body from the shoulder down is under the temper pedic. I works great for me. The memory foam topper actually seems plusher than the $1800 plush beds. On thing for sure you will want the cooling case for the topper as this memory foam gets warm at night-part of the reason I am using the latex below it although I am considering getting 2nd temper pedic topper to play with. The toppers are easily easier to taken on and off the beds than a full heavy mattress. I recommend both a latex and this memory foam topper if you don’t know what type of bed you want. ... show more

    • Cooling cover smells absolutely disgusting

I did a ton of research on mattress toppers. I like really soft mattresses (side sleeper) and was trying to make my Brooklyn Bedding "Best Mattress Ever" model in Soft (it's from 5+ years ago, they don't make this mattress anymore) a little softer. I saw some reviews and posts online mentioning that the "formula" for Tempur-Pedic toppers has changed and they aren't as high quality/dense. I was prepared for this, as I read that they were still worth it over a cheap memory foam topper. I don't know what the old one was like, as I've never had one before. Tempur-pedic currently has 2 models of their topper...the TEMPUR-Topper Supreme (which they rate as medium-firm, made with original Tempur material) and the TEMPUR-Adapt + Cooling Topper (which they rate as medium, made with Tempur ES aka "Extra Soft" material like some of their "Soft" mattresses now have). Being that I was trying to make my already soft rated mattress a little softer, I opted for the TEMPUR-Adapt + Cooling Topper (which costs more). The topper arrived and I immediately noticed the smell before even opening the box. I figured the box smelled from being on a delivery truck. Opened the box and realized it wasn't the box that smelled and it wasn't the foam. The cover is separate (you have to zip it around the foam once expanded). The cover smells ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Not like the normal foam off gassing or something, I mean just absolutely rancid. It seems to have some sort of gel/plastic layer for "Cooling", which I think is what smells (as the bottom of the cover without the cooling part doesn't smell at all). I aired the cover out on my outdoor clothesline all day in the sun and wind, but it didn't change the smell at all. Let it air out in a different room for another day, still on change. I did NOT try washing it, but it smells so bad I don't think I would want it in my washing machine (yes, it's really that bad). As far as the foam itself goes -- this is NO better than a cheap 3" memory foam topper. It's so soft that you sink right through it (tested with 175lb person and then with a 120lb person) and hit whatever is under it. It's literally like it's not even there. I have an ancient 1.5" memory foam topper (some green tea thing from Walmart) that was really cheap and it feels better than this Tempur-pedic one even after 6+ years. I should probably try the TEMPUR-Topper Supreme version, as the medium-firm might hold better without sinking through it. However, after this experience with how the cooling cover smelled, I won't try the other one as I don't want to keep returning them. Tempur-pedic should be embarrassed to put their name on this product between the disgusting smell and poor performance. Definitely not worth the price, that's for sure! ... show more
