Straightforward, organized directions. 2 edits: -Put the swing on the base before tying the rope for easy threading. -Put the sun canopy on earlier than the last step. Husband here is 285lbs, he quickly got off when I told him the weight capacity was 265lbs. But it wasn’t a notable problem for him to try it out. He is 6’2” and he did say it was slightly small for him. The rope tying (that you do yourself) is what actually holds your weight and that by itself made me nervous. But it has shown no signs of loosening in the hour I’ve laid in it. It is actually quite comfortable, especially when comparing to other hammock style chairs. It would be nice to have a higher weight capacity for comfort. As well as a way to adjust the sun canopy without having to get up. Overall it took us about an hour and 15 with one of us attending to our newborn here and there. I’d highly recommend it over other hammocks for comfort. ... show more

    • Love the chair but could use some improvements

This chair’s usability is everything I wanted, a neat nice place to sit outside and read, watch my kids. It’s comfortable and feels sturdy. Putting it together was easy but iffy. It took me about two hours by myself. I put the pieces in the grass to try to avoid scuff marks, as I had read about other reviews and pieces scraping/rusting easily. The hardest part for me was the lacing on the swing to support the seat. I had to redo it several times initially but it hasn’t moved since I finished it. I feel very secure when I sit, which I didn’t expect. Seat design: I do not understand why this cushion is made to retain water. The seat mesh under the cushion also does not allow water to easily drain away. This is the main reason I bought the cover. When the cushion does get wet, the fastest and maybe only way to get the water out is to fold the cushion or drape it over and gravity allows the water to very slowly drain away. Sunshine helps as well. Besides water retention, the seat has been very satisfactory and I’ve enjoyed it. ... show more

I had been contemplating buying this chair all summer and I finally decided to get it and boy do I not regret it! It is so comfortable and relaxing. I find myself in it most evenings and if I'm not in it, my 18 year old is. It took roughly an hour and a half to assemble. I had read where people mentioned if the cushion gets wet it retains water for a while, I can't speak to that as I bring the cushion in every night to avoid dampness. All I can say is, if you are considering getting this chair, do it! You won't regret it! ... show more

    • Great chair, but take one step prior to assembly to prevent a common problem

This chair is ultra comfortable and looks slick and modern on the deck. I love a few things about it. One is that it comes in colors people might actually want. Beige, navy, and taupe are all very well and good, but some of us LIKE colors. I got the chair in turquoise. The accent colors on my deck are turquoise and daffodil yellow, because 1.) heck yeah and 2.) neutrals are for squares. I did want to mention that a few of the negative reviews mention that this thing is susceptible to rusting. Noted. Before assembly, I applied clear Rustoleum all over this piece, paying special attention to the screw holes. I then put it all together and waited. No rust so far. If you take this step before you assemble, you can probably avoid the same trouble. Furthermore, if the fabric fades, as some reviews suggest it will after a season of direct sun exposure, you can just remove the cushion and get yourself a replacement in Sunbrella. Another thing I like is the teensy footprint of this piece. I take a long time every spring to lovingly apply Ipe Oil to my fancy, dark, tropical hardwood deck until it glimmers like well-seasoned cast iron skillet, so the smaller the footprint of any object I put on it, the better. I don't want fading, water pooling underneath something, etc. and this fits the bill. This thing has four touch-points on the feet, and none of them is bigger than a dime. Nod of approval to the small umbrella thingy up top. I like it. It's very unlikely to blow the whole apparatus away in a strong wind, and it does block out the sun well. No need to remove a star for this, as such items are definitely sold separately, but it would be nice to have a cupholder attached to it. You can't really have a piece of furniture anywhere near this thing, because it will just bash into it. But a simple clip-on cup holder could solve your "where do I put my beverage" problem for under $10, so maybe pick up one of those if you decide you'd like to buy this chair. ... show more

Very excited to receive this and started to assemble it as soon as we got it after opening up the box and sorting out all the parts I found out there were no instructions. So I went and contacted the company and they emailed me right then and there (great service) so I printed them out and with in half hour we we sitting in it , seems to be good quality and it's very comfortable ... show more

I bought this for my wife for Mother's Day, and she absolutely loves it. Like others have mentioned, after a few weeks, we started to see a little rust forming outside the powder coating. I contacted the seller with pictures and they made things right. Overall, the sturdiness and comfort trump the minor issue we had with the small rust spots. I am going to spray some clear enamel over the entire outside, and some inside to try and prevent future issues. I also bought a cover for it, which I would recommend as well. The cushion is comfortable, but as others mentioned, water can pool up a bit towards the bottom - so the cover has eliminated this issue. Plus, it is nice to keep it out of the sun when not in use so the fabric has less chance to fade. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and look forward to years of use for my wife. (and maybe me if she lets me) :-) ... show more

The pieces aren’t labeled so you have to take a few minutes to double check (left and right) when instructed. But not too hard to figure out. The chair itself is comfortable.
