  • Outstanding
Style: C10FCGS Only
Great purchase and works as expected. Great for cutting timber all day long with precision and ease

  • Perfect entry-level, homeowner/hobbyist/DIYer tool
Style: C10FCGS Only
Pros: 1. Came dead-accurate out of the box. Positive stops all work well, and everything was square 90 degrees (or whatever angle or bevel you desire) wherever I set it. You may need to adjust the gauge needles though (I did); 30 seconds and a Phillips screwdriver, no problem. 2. Despite being lightweight, it doesn't feel cheap. Plenty of well-machined metal where it counts, and most of the plastic feels rigid, thick, and of notable quality. I want to stress this; I'm replacing a Craftsman miter saw with this and the difference in the quality of plastic jumped out at me. Not thin or flexible or creaky in the least. 3. Setup an assembly was fairly easy. Cons: 1. By far the biggest con is the blade guard. While everything else feels quality on this machine, the blade guard feels cheap and floppy. It's attached with just a single screw on one side, and there is significant play. If you were to bump it somehow while the blade is spinning, there can absolutely be contact with the blade. Shouldn't be an issue if you use it as intended but be aware of this. 2. The instructions and pictures were a little lacking. If I weren't familiar with miter saws already, I might have gotten confused at several points by the mediocre instructions. 3. I bought a nice 80-tooth blade and it was a pain to change out. The arbor nut was WAY over-torqued from the factory. Had to bang on the included allen key with a hammer to get it to break loose. There's only just enough space for the blade so be careful not to bang up the teeth getting it in. Holding the arbor lock switch in while also holding up the flimsy blade guard while ALSO trying to bang the over-torqued bolt lose was a heck of an experience. 4. The dust collection chute behind the saw is laughably small. I won't take off for this because it was $100 and all miter saws are dust demons but it's even more ridiculously bad on this than most. You'll need to figure something out, or take it outside (fortunately it's the lightest-weight miter saw I've ever encountered). Overall it's. A redesign of the blade guard would take this tool from very good to excellent. This miter saw strikes me as being a quality tool that will work out of the box with minimal setup and adjustments, and do 99% of what 99% of people need a miter saw for. The Craftsman saw I mentioned that I'm replacing with this was a sliding variety, but I never needed the capacity for all the years I've had it. This 10-inch non-sliding will cut through two 2x4s at once. If that's not enough for you, you're likely a high-level professional. For just about everyone else, this will do everything you ask of it for half the price of one of the fancier brands. ... show more

  • Great quality affordable compound saw
Style: C10FCGS Only
My old "Craftsman" chop saw finally "bit the dust" while using it. Bushings and armature burnt up so had to get a replacement saw. Never heard of this brand before but it had the features I was looking available and the price was affordable as opposed to outrageous. It was packaged really well and it was delivered the same day I ordered it, (with free shipping). So far this exceeded my expectations. Once I unpacked and got it set up and began cutting, I was very impressed. The "safety" pin was easier to operate. The calibration angles were more precisely marked. The safety guard sided up and down with ease. The carbide tip blade it came with made precise "clean" cuts. The motor itself sounded "tight" instead of a loud shrill like most saws do that "wind down" after cutting a board. Overall I was rather impressed and "very happy" with this saw. Plus this saw has a feature my old chop saw did not, it is a compound saw. I usually don't do very much "bevel" cutting but if the need arises, now it is covered. Two thumbs up for this saw. ("Merry Christmas" to me, I got myself a really nice chop saw and I didn't have to mortgage the house to pay for it". ... show more

  • Good miter saw
Style: C10FCGS Only
Light and portable! Well put together and the quality is up to snuff for Hitachi/Metabo and the price point is okay. Extension D-handles would have been nice though. Not a slider and no laser...no frills but it is a good unit.

  • Great little saw, perfect for home projects
Style: C10FCGS Only
I am not a pro by any means, but I've been expanding my power tool collection and working on dozens of craft and small construction projects at home in the last few years. I wish I'd bought this saw years ago! As a lot of other reviewers said, the assembly instructions are fairly confusing, but once it's put together it's simple to use and took basically no adjustment. I had it ready to roll in under a half hour. I've cut dozens of pieces of pine, oak and mahogany with the included blade so far, everything from 1x2s to 4x4s. The reach is more than enough to comfortably cut 1x6s at 90 degrees, and it would probably be okay with a 2x6 as well. I haven't tried any miter cuts yet. I cut some 1x10s in two cuts by flipping the board and lining up the cuts. It's not perfect but definitely possible. It also powered through some whitewood 4x4s like a hot knife through butter this weekend, but I wouldn't do anything larger. A 4x4 will just about touch the bolt and blade guard stop before you're through it. I've had no problem with the blade adjustment or blade guard so far. The blade guard is very cheap, flimsy plastic that wobbles a bit, but not enough to come near the blade. The including clamping mechanism has fit all but the smallest pieces I've needed to cut so far. If you're cutting an extremely short piece, you'll want to get another kind of clamp. It's also lightweight and portable with a built-in carrying handle. My only small complaint is that the dust collection bag doesn't do a very good job, at least with pine. I'll find the tiny port into the bag jammed and starting to spit shavings out around the sides after a half dozen cuts. Haven't been using it long enough to be worth attaching a shop vac to it, but that would probably solve the issue. As is, I just stop (unplug it, of course) and clean out the port now and then. I'd highly recommend this saw for hobbyists or DIY-ers on a budget. If you want something heavy-duty enough for construction, daily use, or large pieces, shell out for a better saw. Update after ~18 months - still 5 stars! The only issue that's come up is that the brake has stopped working now and then, but it's not a huge deal. Just takes a few seconds longer waiting for the blade to stop spinning before I can line up my next cut. ... show more

  • Best bang for the buck
Style: C10FCGS Only
This is a great chop saw. Can’t beat the price. compound miter saw. Light weight. I have a Makita in my shop. It’s too heavy to carry to jobs. This one’s lightweight and does a great job. Be happier.
