I only put here 4 stars as there is issue with motor once. Assembly - first my fear in the beginning was what if it wouldn't work? I don't have a truck to deliver it to an Amazon return center bc this thing is massive in weight. If it didn't work, it would have taken a second person to pack it back to the box or haul to the truck..again it's weighty. I am 5 foot 4 inches and 116 pounds. I say this, bc i assembled it by myself, even though i say about the weight. My strategy was to mentally prepare. I decided to commit to the assembly whatever happens. It was helpful to mentally commit as slowly it took me 3 hrs. to assemble this thing. i watched the video first on how to assemble it. Then read few reviews about how assembly could fail. Of course, we have different ways of tackling assembly. So, after learning what could go wrong during the assembly, i was ready to put it together. Ensure that you have a large rug to rest the parts, so it doesn't scratch the floors. Ensure you have gloves, like me, you may chip your nails. Also, organization is the key. Place each part sequentially how you would take it one by one. If you are messy or doing it alone, it's painful to have to walk far to get the next parts. So for me, i position all parts strategically. I also used gravity to my advantage when lifting the desk itself. There's always a rug behind so i could maneuver it and slide it on the floor. The one thing people report here is that, if you don't attach parts in the proper sequence, when you undo it, it will be such a pain lol. So use your visualization first and take your time thinking your strategy. the worse is you spend time partially assembling only to find out it's wrong then it takes another hour to undo all, oops. Leg room? I am short, but i only place a laptop bag underneath and when i sit [when it is lowered], my chair fits ok and my legs are ok. Small space? Idk, your definition of small space. This has dimension, so if it fits a corner then it fits. pre-holed holes are not where it's supposed to be! This is why i reduce 1 star to my review. The up/down button is supposed to face front-wise but the hole makes it face side-ward. So i had to access it from the within. Lastly, the motor. I read about one setting it up and accidentally burnt the motor, whatever that means. So, i was very careful not to follow that mistake. Again, back to if you are just setting it up and it didn't work, you don't want to be hassled of boxing it for return or time wasted calling Amazon or Flexispot customer care. You just want to use it already, not be pissed calling customer care and waste their time with your ranting lol. Anyways, one day, the UP button is not working. Gladly i found a solution by this iii-reviewer saying that you press both up/down button for 15 sec, and it resets the dead looking motor. It worked back. So, if not to this - this desk is perfect if you are a work from home like me and needs to remain standing to protect your back from slouching or your bottom from getting fat on the side lol. After my husband and I misread the directions several times (they're not intuitive) and thought we'd re-screwed and unscrewed the legs to the desk too many times for it to work, we actually go everything up and running. It works nicely and I love having the flexibility to sit or stand at my leisure. Note: I ran into the problem of the motor stopping, particularly one time when lowering it and it hit another piece of furniture on the way down. I unplugged and replugged it, but that didn't help. There are several reviews showing how people "reset" the motor. The top method worked for me, but I included a summation of several of the possible options below to try for other users before they give up. "I called customer service. They advised me to switch the desk off for 10sec, switch it on, press the up button for 10 sec, and then the down button for 30sec (it needs to bounce back while at the lowest position). That reset the controller and made it work as before. A quick call to Amazon customer service and she showed me how to do a hard reset. Where you hold both buttons down For 30 to 60 seconds(we did it plugged in then unplugged for both resets) and then push the down button (even if it’s all the way down) and then hit the up button and then it starts to work again. "Here are the instructions that may help you on this issue: 1. Make sure all parts are installed in designated locations, unplug all the wires that are connected to the adapter including the power plug, and let it rest for 30 seconds. 2. Plug them back in, Hold both UP and DOWN buttons for 5 seconds at the same time. 3. Hold the ▼ button for 10-15 seconds until the desk reaches its lowest height then slightly raised, and test if it works." First, their live chat support used my Amazon order # to identify the product and guess at what happened - he was right - I likely held the button after it reached max height as I was first adjusted it, so had to do a reset (lower to lowest height, hold down for 3 seconds). When getting in touch with Support they informed me I can press the down button for several seconds which resets the motor. Fixed my problem and updated my review to reflect this." ... show more

    • ZERO frills but does the job

Just received and assembled my base model of this desk. A Plus - I put it together alone, so being able to do that is a plus. It took me about an hour or so to put together and it wasn't too bad - much easier than Ikea instructions because there are actual words and not just pictures. There was only one unclear direction, which I think is where the bulk of my assembly was spent. + I didn't have any issue with misaligned holes or pieces that didn't fit correctly + Unobstructed, open bottom so I have no issue putting a walking pad underneath The desktop is lighter than I expected it to be but it seems sturdy and unlikely to scratch easily. One thing that I found annoying on first use is that moving it up and down is a little slow and if you hold the button down too long it'll go all the way up or down. At this point, it seems annoying but it's probably just something to get used to. Another thing that kind of sucks is the irreversible configuration; I wish that the desk was a little more customizable. One leg has the motor and power cord and control button and I wish I had the option to move it to the other side closer to the outlet. Overall, on my initial use, I'm pretty pleased. I initially was wondering if I should have sprung for a fancier model (i.e., with the glass top or drawer or usb ports) but for the price I think this is a great buy that gets the job done and has really upgraded my work from home situation.
