  • Great generator for the RV
Style: 4500w Inverter Generator
This generator arrived on time and it was well packaged. I read the manual before I did anything with it. I charged the starter battery for several hours before I added oil. The oil access point is a little difficult to open, but everything is easy to reach once open. I like that the oil provided is the amount required. No guessing. I took the unit outside and followed the electric start process. The unit fired right up and settled in to run mode very quickly. I put a timed load on it, two strings of 10 100Watt incandescent bulbs that turned on and off numerous times over the 5 hour burn in. When I shut the generator off, I let it cool down and changed the oil. When I filled the gas tank up after burn in and the first oil change, I went inside and ate dinner. After dinner, I went to put the unit on the back rack of the trailer for a trip the next morning. I noticed a little fuel on the ground, and chalked it up to me being sloppy. The next morning I went outside and saw a large pool of gasoline on the concrete drive. I opened the fuel tank and found that it was now quite empty. I was due to leave on my vacation this same day, so I was far from a happy camper. I decided to do fix the problem and write a review. The generator was easy to service for someone that is mechanically inclined, and I quickly located the culprit. There is a small elbow of a rubber fuel line between the tank fitting and the shut off valve. This had a split in it just below the clamp location. It didn't appear to me that it was chafed through from vibration, but what I feel happened was the hose clamp took several tries to get on, and the clamp cut the hose. I replaced the little section and reassembled the unit. I added a small amount of fuel to the tank and had my morning meal rather late. I returned to the generator after the meal and found no trace of a further fuel leak. I filled the generator again, and let it sit for another 45 minutes while I cleaned the gasoline from the interior. Once I was satisfied that running the generator would not ignite my driveway and leave me with a plastic blob around a motor and power head, I started the unit up and placed it under load once more. There were no further leaks. I went inside and showered and cooled off before departing on vacation. I am sitting in my trailer running the AC and I am confident this generator bill not fail me now. I was truly lucky I had the unit outside when the fuel made it's mass exodus. I was also lucky that I am mechanically inclined and able to undertake this type of repair. I would like to hear from the seller/manufacturer so I can discuss this with them. I would reconsider my rating based upon further discussion. **ADDED comments*** I have not heard from Pulsar about my issue, but I have raised my rating from 2 to 3 stars. This generator ran flawlessly for 3 days. I just changed the oil again and it is ready for my next trip. I would buy this again, even with the issues I had. ... show more

  • It rocks...does what I need it to do. See review...
Style: 4500w Inverter Generator
The media could not be loaded. Ok so I find water leaks for plumbers and I use a compressor to do it. I bought this generator just to power my compressor. Most household outlets can't handle the 13-14amp 2hp motor cranking up. I needed something quiet but can pull around 4500 watts when the compressor kicks on. Welp. This works wonders. I'll take a pic and video showing what other reviews aren't. I tested this generator while running and pulled the handle out and lifted it to see when does it cut off for safety as I tilt it. It sputters around 6 degrees so not much of an angle. That's why you see my generator in a sling I bought on amazon. If I park my truck on any slope or angled driveway I can crane it off the bed and let gravity level it out and it runs and works. Since I find leaks acoustically I need something quiet enough I can work around it or won't wake neighbors. This generator is great for that. I wanted the remote version although I haven't needed to use it yet other than testing it out. You need items unplugged from the generator or turned off when the generator cranks on. So if my compressor is plugged in and on...once the generator cranks up so will the compressor which is way too much and will overload. I've had to pull the draw handle a few times out of a few dozen days using this. The battery starter I don't use enough to keep it charged which it comes with a plug to charge it that way. Two pulls most times and it's up. The generator will charge the start battery while it's running but the generator needs to run for a few hours to get it full. I use this on and off for a few hours on Saturdays. I do break it in like any small motor. Run at no load for an hour. Half load for another hour....I used my space heater to do that. Then adjust for the next 3 hours before changing oil. Then it's broken in. I use non ETH fuel from the pump. You can use reg eth gas but I don't want my fuel drawing in moisture. I live in the Carolinas and we use non eth on any small engine. Just a rule of thumb but you can use either fine. It's heavy. I'm old, I can't lift this into my truck alone and I need to be self sufficient so I use my crane. I don't know the actual weight of the generator filled with gas. I'll post update once I get a scale to hook onto the sling. Overall I def recommend. Make sure you know how much power you will draw in order to see if this would fit your need. ... show more

  • 7000 hours and still running.
Style: 4500w Inverter Generator
To be clear I am not being paid for my review.. (wish I knew how to do that lol) I know this is hard to believe, but we live off grid completely. However we run power constantly. We run a 10k AC, full size fridge and freezer, satellite internet, elec water pump, security cameras, charge a 100ah battery rack as well as M18 chargers, movie projector (we don't use tvs due to radiation) yes constantly. No AC in winter of course. We have put over 7000 hours on our Pulsar 4500 inverter generator and it has never broke down a single time, actually still using the original spark plug. When we open up the side panel inside is like new, we do not change oil ad regularly as we should and we run regular 87 octane with ethanol nothing fancy. Powerhead is still putting out same and idle down , elec start (except battery is getting weak so if u start up and shut down sometimes have to pull because battery doesnt hold enough charge) and everything else still works great. We are about to purchase the exact same generator again but wanted to share our story. We have used Champion,Honda, Westinghouse etc etc and no gas generator has ever made it 1000 hours for us. Quite frankly ive never heard of a gas generator lasting 1500 hours. Diesels maybe 4000 hours but cmon 7000 hours this thing is amazing. I'm sitting in our place now, 89 degrees outside, it's 65 inside , Pulsar is 30ft from my window and I can't hear it unless it revs when fridge and ac kick on. If you are needing a generator, buy the Pulsar 4500 remote start and enjoy! ... show more
