  • Good value
Style: Generator Cover Pattern Name: Generator
I bought this for a different brand generator, a Duromax XP9000iH, because I could not find one for that model and the dimensions on this looked close. There is a little extra room, but it fits quite well. Material appears to be a polymer-coated nylon, so it probably will not breathe, but it should be waterproof. There is a drawstring around the bottom with two spring-loaded button sliders to tighten it. They seem sturdy, though I’m not sure how they will do in high winds. But I bought this primarily as a dust cover so that is not so important for me. Best part - under $20, which is cheaper than many of the generic ones on Amazon and way less than a custom-made one. ... show more

  • Great Generator
Style: Generator Cover Pattern Name: Generator
Shopped around this was by far the best for me, powers my house, and powers my 50amp camper with no problem running both a/c units, microwave , tv, refrigerator, and anything else plugged in.

  • Almost 5 years later, still kicking.
As it seems with everyone else, I bought this during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy after a few days without power and no sign of imminent relief. It was amazing to find one and it was delivered on the promised day (about 8 days after the storm). I am only getting around to writing a review now because I am finally putting it away in a storage shed having left it covered throughout on the side of my house throughout the winter. Before I just moved it, I put in a little gas and it started on the second press of the button! The biggest problem with this for me was when the gas ran out (usually in the middle of the night) and I refilled it and tried to restart it. The engine would immediately flood, and it would take a while till it could be restarted. Fortunately, a very nice small engine repair guy was willing to come over in the midst of all the Hurricane damage and gave us a protocol to avoid flooding. He said to turn the gas flow valve off before it ran out (there is a somewhat inaccurate gauge on the top) and let it run out till it sputters off. Then fill up the tank and open the valve and hit the restart button. It may take two or more pushes, but IT STARTED!!! It would be nice if I did not have to worry about this, especially in an emergency but, other than that, it seems fairly well built and hopefully I can get the carburetor repaired while still under warranty. (I called once and left a message, but never got a return call). Update April 2018. We had an extensive blackout lasting a week. Although I hadn't done much to maintain this generator, other than keep it covered and run it every few years, I filled it with gas primed it and pulled out the choke. The battery was weak and would not turn over, but it started with the second pull of the string and then proceeded to work straight for 7 days. Oddly, had absolutely no problem with the carburetor so I am upgrading to 4 stars. ... show more

  • Good unit, plenty of power
Solid unit. I put a propane conversion kit on it and have not run it on gas. It starts quickly and runs smoothly. Pretty loud, so make friends with your neighbors haha. I have it connected to a Generac Homelink transfer switch and this thing will pretty much run the whole house, minus the central AC of course. Doesn't have a wattage output display, and I can't figure out the hour meter - it appears to be a simple timer and doesn't appear to be cumulative, hence docking a star. Some tips: 1- Get a propane kit, gasoline is a pain. Get a couple 40# tanks to go with it. Propane stores forever and won't gum up the carb, I a guy who went to start their generator only to have it crap out on him and it's most likely because he didn't maintain the gasoline and screwed up the carb. They were without power for a week, staring at their generator. 2- Get a decent transfer switch. Don't plug this into your dryer outlet. You will kill someone. 3- Ground it properly! An 8' grounding rod is only $12 4- Do all this well before an emergency is expected. 5- For the love of Pete, DON'T RUN IT IN YOUR HOUSE OR GARAGE. We had like 10 people die in their houses after Irma because they didn't know running an internal combustion engine in an area without proper ventilation is a bad thing.. No, opening the doors and windows will not be enough. It will kill you in minutes and by the time you figure out what's happening you're already dead (one member of a family that died made it as far as the front sidewalk, too late.). Get a chain, bolt it to the ground, whatever, just leave it outside. Hope this helps! ... show more

  • Hurricane Sandy + Amazon Rescue!!!
The day after Sandy hit, I ordered this on Amazon. It came 8 days later, just in time as my families tolerance for darkness, cold, and cold showers had withered. I followed the instructions perfectly, prepared it and hit the electric start button. Wow, what a pleasure, it started on the first try. I want to dump my pull start snow blower now, I'm so jealous. As generators go, I would say this is of average loudness for a gas generator. My only comparision point is a few of my neighbors. Note that while it says 7000W, it is actually 5500W. This was ample for my needs during the storm. We'll see if it covers the major needs when I wire it into the house. As far as fuel usage, it was pretty efficient at 1/2 gal per hour at moderate load. It is very well made for what I believe is a foreign, low cost product. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 mainly because of the wattage mis-statement. I'd say it's more like 4.5 stars. The genny came with a toolkit, and plug adapters too. These were no where to be found post storm so this was a blessing. We ran the generator for 27 hours total until our electricity returned. I have a greater sense of security now having one. Last step is to wire it into the house; no more extension cords. ... show more
